What's New in the Arts?
The Art Department Welcomes Miss Sarver 2010/2011
Good-Bye
As I finished up my 11th year at Northmont, my collegues and students showed me amazing compassion towards the end of my Northmont career. I will miss everyone and everything about Northmont. I was born and raised in the Englewood community and graduated from Northmont. Therefore, no matter where I go in life...I'll always bleed "GREEN"

Who's your Hero?
Northmont's gone Digital
As of the 2008-2009 school year the Northmont Art Department has moved into the digital technology age. Our long lived traditional photography chemical lab was converted into a state of the art digital computer lab. This lab currently houses (12 ) 24 inch iMac computers and the CS3 Photoshop software that were provided by many different contributors. Special Thanks go out to: Gene Klaus, Debbie Baker, Brad Bush, Sean Kaiser, Amy Mangen, Don Gillispie, John Blessing, and all the maintence crew for this lab possible. Lab Photos
Long Term Assignment Policy
In order to assure consistent academic achievement as well as develop a sense of responsibility in their students, the members of the Art department strongly encourage students to submit long-term assignments on the date they are due.
Long Term Assignment - consisting of 1 week to 1 semester of out of school time to complete such
as: portfolios, sketchbooks, photography shooting assignments, research papers or projects are due
on the assigned due date.
If a student is in school on the day a long - term assignment is due but misses Art class due to a tardy to school, an early dismissal, a scheduleed assembly, etc., the assignment is still due that day. If the student is unable to submit the assignment to the teacher personally, the assignment may be given to one of the four art teachers located in rooms: 130, 132, 143, 116, who will give it to the assigning art teacher.
If a student is not in school due to an excused absence on the day a long-term assignment is due, the assignment must be submitted on the students first day back to school. Failure to turn in assignment upon returning to school will result in your project dropping one letter grade for every number of days late.
Once your long-term assignment is graded and returned you will have until the same time the following day to resubmit to the teacher for reevaluation only if there is discretion over the assigned grade. After that time frame there will be no long-term assignment considered for reevaluation.
The members of the Art department are aware that extenuating circumstances occasionally prevent students from complying with due dates. Therefore, should a student require an extension of a due date, the discretion of the teacher would prevail.
Students receiving an authorized absence are permitted to make up all in class assignments/
projects according to Student Handbook policy (page 25, #4).
